Appreciating every waking moment: waking up every morning might be the most underrated gift ever. What does it imply, to wake up every day?

Waking up anew every morning – a routine that every living person knows, that is familiar to us and that, depending on how we feel, either pleases or annoys us.
Every morning we have to stop the familiar alarm clock ringing, get up, get ready for the day, look after the family, drive to school or work and may already be flooded with everyday worries and struggles in our minds before we can even realise how lucky we are that we were able to wake up this morning.
What does it mean to wake up again and again? We are gifted with a new day; we are allowed to live. We are given a new chance to simply be there, to enjoy, to connect, to feel, to achieve, to be productive, to relax, to make mistakes, to fail, to suffer, to set boundaries, to end relationships and start new ones, to try new things and to learn. We take it for granted that we wake up every morning because we have never experienced it any other way.
What we can learn from those who aren’t amongst us any more and also from people with near-death experiences is that the possibility of not waking up one morning is more than real. In most cases, these people were probably not aware that this would be their last waking morning; how much more intensely would they have appreciated and lived it if they had been given this awareness? And how differently would we organise our time if we were aware that we can never know how many waking moments are still available to us? How much more would we learn to appreciate every waking moment; to feel deeply; to be grateful; to live consciously?
Appreciating every waking moment! How do you feel when you wake up in the morning? Can you accept and appreciate the gift of life? Would you like to reflect on your gratitude and awareness?
