Do you dare being truly authentic and vulnerable?

Being authentic and vulnerable – a challenge that many people find difficult to face. What about you? Do you dare?

We often try to build protective walls around ourselves to prevent others from getting too close to us. We don’t want them to see how weak we sometimes feel. We’re afraid of making ourselves vulnerable if others were to recognise our weaknesses. We try to hide certain aspects of our personality, hoping that they will never be discovered by those around us.

The reasons for this behaviour are understandable. Nevertheless, in our relationships, they may mean that other people are unable to get to know us properly – or that they get to know a version of us that differs significantly from our authentic self.

Being authentic and vulnerable – what does that actually mean?

A requirement for authenticity is that we get to know ourselves well. And this in turn requires us to develop a good understanding of ourselves. In psychological therapy, you can learn to get in touch with your feelings and needs and take important steps towards practising self-care, mindfulness and self-awareness. The more you open up to yourself and lovingly accept the different facets of your personality, the more you’ll be able to show yourself authentically to other people.

What if we stopped hiding and everyone could see what we are like? There would then be no shameful ‘secrets’ for others to discover any more. There would be a valuable opportunity to recognise ‘being weak’ as a strength.

How would your feelings towards yourself change from this perspective? How would such an attitude influence your life quality and your relationships?

Let’s talk about it in a free initial session!

“If you’re courageous enough to be authentic and vulnerable at all times – who should ever again be in a position to hurt you?”
