Gratitude: every day anew! ‘Gratitude for all there is and all there isn’t.’ – Being grateful, even when things don’t go as planned.

Gratitude is a spiritual concept that is anchored in many religious and philosophical traditions. It is seen as an attitude of receiving and appreciating gifts, both material and immaterial. The essence is to see life and all experiences as a precious gift, regardless of the specific circumstances.
In many religions, such as Christianity or Buddhism, gratitude is seen as a virtue that opens the heart and enables a deeper connection to the divine or universal energy. This virtue promotes humility and modesty and helps us to realise that all life is connected to a higher meaning and purpose.
Gratitude is therefore seen as a path to inner peace and spiritual fulfilment, as it shifts the focus from deficiency to abundance and thus to the positive aspects of life. It feels good and peaceful to consciously feel gratitude when certain things in your life are going exactly as you wanted them to. However, an essential question here is: can you be just as humble and grateful when certain things, or even life in general, don’t go as you would have wanted? And where do you get the certainty that your original plans would have actually made you happier than what life ultimately gave you?
We never know what ‘could have been’. Maybe you would have been better off, or maybe you would have been worse off if you had got everything you wanted.
Gratitude: every day anew! Are you practising regular gratitude and appreciation towards life? How do you manage this in times when life turns out differently than you would have wanted? What attitude to life and mindset do you find particularly helpful here?
Let’s talk about it in a free initial session!
